My Fishing Page

In July 2007 with the drought at hand and no whitewater to be found, I took up an offer from my wife's boss to go fly fishing. I had always fished, and had even more recently been having some success catching trout, but had never been fly fishing. While I didn't catch a fish that first day, I did find a new way to enjoy the mountains. Soon after another friend of mine gave me an Eagle Claw fly rod and I was soon hooked on fly fishing. As the drought continued through the next summer, I was soaking up the Smokies with my new sport of fly fishing. My enthusiasm increased as I met up with another fellow from the LRO message board who took me Brookie fishing for the first time. Ever since, I have been fishing almost every week, and can not get enough of it. I prefer to fish more remote stretches of streams as they offer solitude and a more pure wilderness experience, but sometimes can be found making a quick roadside run. While I have learned a ton in 3 years of fly fishing, I know that I have only just begun to scratch the surface of fly fishing wisdom, and I love to learn from others so if you’re a Smokies Old Timer – please take this youngn’ out for a lesson sometime. I won’t share your favorite spot, and if there is anyone who is just starting out, I would be happy to teach what little I know. Enjoy the pictures below.
